Eidos is a Local-First application—your data lives entirely on your device, and everything works without any cloud connection. This gives you complete privacy and ownership over your data.
But local-first comes with inherent trade-offs:
- Your computer needs to be on for external services to send data to Eidos
- Your data lives on one device, making it hard to work across multiple machines
- Your content is private by default, with no easy way to share it with others
Eidos Services are a set of optional, cloud-powered features designed to address exactly these limitations. They follow the same philosophy as Eidos itself: you never need them to use Eidos fully, but when you do, they integrate seamlessly.
