Web Editor quickstart

The Web Editor creates and edits individual .eidos files directly in your browser. It uses the same Eidos File Runtime and editor UI as Lite and CLI Serve, and does not require installation or an account. To work with a folder of notes and other files, use Eidos Lite.

1. Open editor.eidos.space.

2. Choose New for a blank file, Open for an existing .eidos file, or open the bundled sample first.

3. Add records, fields, tables, or views. Double-click a Grid cell or press

   Enter to edit it.

4. Use Save to update a directly opened file. If the browser cannot keep a writable file handle, use Save As or Download a copy.

Know which copy you are editing

Chromium-based browsers can usually write back to a file after you grant permission. Other browsers import a working copy and require Save As or a download. The editor shows the current save state in its titlebar.

What stays local

File bytes, SQLite queries, and edits remain on the device. The editor keeps a browser-private recovery copy for unsaved work where supported; that recovery copy is not a substitute for saving or backing up the .eidos file.
