Sync computers with Eidos Sync
Official Eidos Sync uses end-to-end encryption to connect separate local copies through your Eidos account. You need an account with Sync access. Your files remain available locally while offline.
Cloud Sync is available in Eidos Lite on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Connect the first computer
Section titled “Connect the first computer”- Open the folder you want to sync in Eidos Lite.
- Open Sync → Cloud sync and select Eidos Sync, then sign in with an account that can upload to Sync. If prompted, select Enable local versions to prepare this Space without leaving setup.
- Check the file count, size, and excluded files.
- If asked, create and confirm a Sync password. Store it in your password manager: you will need the same password on another computer. This is separate from your Eidos account password.
- Select Connect this Space and wait for the first upload to finish. The panel returns to the current Space’s sync status.
While the first sync runs, setup is replaced by its current stage. You can close the panel and keep working; reopening it shows the same task. Expand Sync details for transfer information. If the connection fails, the panel shows the reason and the next recovery action.
For an already connected Space, select the other service under Cloud sync to configure it. The current connection remains identified until you confirm connecting the new service.
Lite can remember the password on macOS and on Linux with a supported system keyring. Windows, or an environment where the password cannot be saved, asks for it again after restarting. The password is never sent to the Sync service.
Hidden files and filenames such as secret-garden.jpg are ordinary files.
They do not require a separate confirmation. The file check blocks unsupported
entries, symbolic links, and individual files larger than 1 GiB. Ignore rules
exclude files that have not entered version history; adding an existing tracked
file to .graftignore does not remove its saved history or stop its inclusion.
Open the Space on another computer
Section titled “Open the Space on another computer”On the first computer, Sync → Cloud sync → Use on another device shows the steps for its current connection; this does not change the service.
- In Eidos Lite, sign in to the same Eidos account.
- Open the Space menu and choose Open Synced Space, then select the cloud Space.
- Enter that Space’s sync password. If you have already saved the same password under Settings → Account & Services → Sync, Lite can use it. Choose Enter a different sync password for a Space with another password.
- Choose a new destination folder and wait for the download to finish.
- Open a known record and attachment to check the restored copy before editing.
A wrong password does not publish an incomplete local Space. Retry with the password used when that Space was connected. Signing in again or resetting the account password does not change the sync password.
Delete a cloud repository
Section titled “Delete a cloud repository”Open Account → Sync → Repositories. Check the repository name and creation date, select Delete, and confirm the permanent deletion. The page shows Deleting… until cloud cleanup finishes; refresh the page if cleanup continues in the background. Storage usage updates after cleanup completes.
Deleting a repository permanently removes all of its cloud files and saved history. Local files and local history remain on each computer, including copies already downloaded on other devices. The deleted connection can no longer upload or download. Back up any local copy you want to keep before removing it from your computer. Deleting a repository does not cancel your subscription.
